About aesthetiFace
aesthetiFace is a free, browser-based facial proportion analysis tool. It combines classical aesthetic theories with modern artificial intelligence to give you an objective, educational look at your facial proportions — entirely for entertainment and self-discovery.
What We Do
Upload a single photo, and our system detects your facial landmarks in real time — right inside your browser. The detected landmarks are then sent to our server for a deeper analysis that measures how your face compares to several well-known proportion frameworks. Within seconds you receive an interactive report covering proportions, morphology, feature measurements, and personalised styling suggestions.
Our Methodology
The analysis draws on four classical proportion frameworks that have been studied in art, anthropometry, and aesthetic medicine for centuries:
- Three Courts (三庭) — Divides the face vertically into three equal zones: hairline to eyebrow, eyebrow to nose tip, and nose tip to chin. Balanced thirds are considered a hallmark of classical facial harmony.
- Five Eyes (五眼) — Measures horizontal spacing by comparing the width of the face to five equal segments, each roughly one eye-width across. This framework evaluates how evenly your features are distributed from ear to ear.
- Golden Ratio — Compares key facial ratios (face height to width, lower-face proportion, mouth-to-nose width) against the golden ratio φ ≈ 1.618 and related ideals. Faces that fall close to these ratios are often perceived as especially harmonious.
- Symmetry — Evaluates bilateral symmetry across five feature pairs: eyes, eyebrows, cheekbones, jawline, and mouth corners. While no face is perfectly symmetric, a higher degree of symmetry tends to correlate with perceived attractiveness.
How Scores Work
Each framework produces its own score from 0 to 100. The scoring algorithm is designed to be forgiving of small natural variations, so minor deviations from the ideal are treated gently. The overall score is a weighted average across all four frameworks, with weights reflecting the relative prominence each framework holds in classical proportion literature. A score is not a judgement of beauty — it is a mathematical measurement of how closely your proportions align with specific historical ideals.
Technology & Privacy
Your selected photo is handled in your browser and is not uploaded as part of the analysis request. Only derived data needed to prepare the report is sent to the aesthetiFace service. Recent reports, including their images, may be stored locally in this browser until you delete them. Anonymous analytics and separate error monitoring help us understand usage and diagnose failures; neither receives your uploaded image.
Limitations & Philosophy
Beauty is subjective, culturally situated, and deeply personal. No algorithm can capture its full complexity. Our scores reflect mathematical proximity to specific classical ideals — they do not define attractiveness, self-worth, or desirability. Results can vary depending on photo quality, lighting, angle, and expression. We encourage you to treat this tool as a fun, educational experience rather than a definitive assessment. If you are considering cosmetic or medical decisions, please consult a qualified professional — not a website.
Who We Are
aesthetiFace is an independent project built by a small team passionate about the intersection of art, mathematics, and technology. We believe that understanding facial proportions should be accessible to everyone — not locked behind expensive consultations. If you have feedback, questions, or ideas, we would love to hear from you via our Contact page.
